Does your Brand Have a Voice?

Does your brand have a voice or are you just pushing out content for the sake of content?

Many startups will struggle to gain any traction unless they nail their brand voice messaging straight out of the gates. If this does not occur, your business will fail and you will debate the cause to be anything except your branding. Therefore, create a well thought out brand voice for your business and don’t just push out content for the sake of making content.

Imagine the challenges you would end up with if you looked over someone’s cover letter and resume before selecting who you want to come in and interview for the position you are hiring for. Your business’s branding is your cover letter. If it’s not attractive and appealing, then your audience will not be interested in anything further that you have to say. Much like how you would take a first look at someone’s cover letter and judge them based on that single sheet of paper, your audience judges you on your branding and brand voice.

In order to avoid being compared to a bad cover letter, here are three ways you can curate an attention grabbing brand identity that your audience will never bypass again.

Determine why your audience should pick you.

You have just about 15 seconds to catch your audience’s attention and make your first impression. Don’t waste it. There are thousands of financial service companies out there, why should anyone choose your company? This is where clearly defining your brand comes into play.

You must answer these questions prior to branding in order to have a successful outcome.

Why you?

What sets you apart from the crowd?

How does the audience perceive your brand?

What kind of tone do you use?

Are you going for quirky, humorous and colloquial like Mailchimp?

Or confident, assertive and dominant like HubSpot?

Every piece of information and advertising you put out there, needs to be in line with your brand. This way whether you email, send a newsletter or push out an ad to your intended audience, all of this content is easily recognizable and the call to action is clear. Furthermore, you must research your audience to find out how you can best serve them. In order to create loyal clients you need to form that bond early on. This brings you back to your brand identity. Again, for a successful outcome you need to be branding around your target audience. Find out what they are most receptive to, what they want and how you can hook their attention.

And most importantly, don’t forget, if you are struggling to make this all come to life, know that we have a team ready to help take your vision and turn it into reality.  Reach out to Digital Storyteller for your Brand Storytelling Session today!
