Why Your Business Must Have a Social Media Presence

As a company in today’s world, having a social media presence is vital to your marketing strategy. It may not seem as important to you as other efforts, but EVERYONE is on social media nowadays, including your competitors. You don’t need to spend a huge amount of time or money on creating Facebook and Instagram ads. However, you do need to be present alongside your customers. Social media is all about connection, human to human interaction, regardless of geographic location. Your customers are humans, as you are a human behind your brand, show it!

In a study conducted by Simply Measured, Facebook is used by  98% of marketers. Even the professional networking site, LinkedIn is regularly used by 64% of B2B marketers. This data shows how social media is essential in today’s world of entrepreneurs and business owners looking to grow.

Social media is most widely used by businesses to help build brand awareness and turn that awareness into sales leads. These platforms provide a place where businesses can create brand-aligned content, consistently push it out in front of customers, and form a human to human relationships with your consumers by humanizing your brand.

That all sounds great, right? Of course, it does, but it won’t happen overnight. Now that you understand why you need to be on social media, let’s help you do it!

There are a few things you should keep in mind while setting up or growing your social media presence. Begin with a goal. Consider our customers and how they want to see you. What social platforms do your customers frequent?, It’s personal, not professional so be human.

Your goal does not necessarily need to be generating money. Rather it can be to be seen in an authentic, vulnerable light. People gravitate toward people who show they care, so why not take advantage of a platform that allows you to do that as a business?

Your customer should be at the center of your content creation. Be sure to consider what content they are taking in and what peaks their interest. Also, be sure to ENGAGE! This is extremely important on social media because Instagram has continuously changing algorithms leaving you in the dust if your engagement is too low and customers feel special when you respond to their comments on social media.

Humanizing your brand is a must if you want any sort of relationship with your customers. People don’t connect to corporations they connect to people. Showing your authenticity and vulnerability will help you be more relatable. Start by creating a personality for your brand that your target audience can relate to. The most successful brands know how to do this, and how to do it well.
